Results: Tucson Thunderdome 2025

Holden Bystry’s annual grass-roots anarcho-punk freestyle tournament took place last weekend, and initial reports sound good. Certainly, no one needed stitches this year, so we’re chalking that one up as a win.

Note that as this is a head-to-head knockout tournament, positions in each “step” of the bracket are decided by comparing run scores within that rung. In other words, rather than have four people in joint last place, all the people knocked out in the first block of head-to-head competitions are effectively put into their own mini-competition and ranked according to their run scores to produce a more “standard” results list.

Does that make sense? Good. With that sorted, here’s the results:

Impressive turn-out by the Marksman sisters, locking in two divisions between them, and a solid win for Mike Osterman to start his 2025 season. Also, a pleasant surprise to see Kilian Martin making a return to competition for the first time in over a decade – here’s hoping his name crops up at a few more events in 2025!

    1. Yeah, I dropped Kilian a message when I saw his name in the results while I was putting this together to say I was stoked to see him getting involved again. Kilian is such a good freestyler, and I hope he’ll make it back to Europe this summer for World Freestyle.

      1. It would be great if he would come back ‘home’ this summer. Maybe your message encourages him a little bit to do so. Still remember competing against him in some small private garage in Sennfeld; as underground as it gets.
